App Slam!: For my App Slam I used my 20% project experiences with Duolingo to share with others because I found it was such a beneficial way to learn the Spanish language. I enjoyed this project because I was able to share with my PLN community how to navigate Duolingo, use its best features, and take the first step toward success in learning a new language with Duolingo like I have!
The Happiness Advantage: (Hint: If you click on each word of the book's title, you will be connected to each of my blog responses on my learning!) I really enjoyed reading The Happiness Advantage and reflecting on my life while doing so. I learned new ways to promote my own happiness without having to make extreme life changes in order to do so. I loved learning about how to train my own brain to slowly eliminate poor habits and replace them with positive habits by decreasing those positive habits' necessary activation energy. I look forward to reading The Happiness Advantage again when my life settles down and is less stressful in order to really practice the new ways Shawn Achor taught me about how to create and promote happiness in my life.
EdChats: I did not really enjoy the experience of twitter chats; however, I did enjoy the amount of information and resources educational chats provide from a plethora of well educated and experienced teachers. For my first educational twitter chat, I participated in the #stuvoice #thankateacher edchat where students and teachers were discussing the different ways teachers can make impacts on their students' lives. Also, in this #stuvoice community we shared the experiences we have had as teachers to reinforce our love for teaching and learning. For my second educational chat, I followed the #kinderchat of the week which was based on preparing Kindergarten students for their graduation into First grade including assessments, future plans, teacher advice, and much more. I learned about the ESGI (Educational Software for Guiding Instruction) software which automates computerized, one-on-one student assessments and tracks students' learning throughout the year so that final grades and evaluations may run more smoothly for us teachers! Although ESGI is not the end all be all for student/teacher analysis, it is a great additional resource for teachers to use with immediate access to students' learning data.
#usdglopro: I participated in this project throughout our semester and had fun sharing pictures from my student teaching school with the #usdglopro community. I was exposed to a multitude of photos from all different types of schools, and I even saw some creative ideas I may incorporate in my future classroom.
Digital Pedagogy Project: Along with my 20% project of learning Spanish, I think this was one of the most useful projects from our course for my teaching career and life as an eduactor. With the new influence and desire for technology to be incorporated throughout students' curriculum, my Digital Pedagogy Project helped me realize how many effective websites and apps I am already using in my classroom. Also, my digital tutorials aided me in learning about new online resources to implement into my classroom teachings to benefit both my students' 21st century skills and content standard expectations! I hope that my Digital Pedagogy Project of Effective Classroom Websites and Apps is useful for other teachers as well!
